NX-33 a full balanced solid state amplifier. The balanced topology of driving headphones is not new and offers some advantages over the classic unbalanced single ended topology, mainly due to the higher control over the drivers; the result is an increase detail resolution, dynamics and “punch” feeling.

The NX33 is a very solid compact unit, built to the highest quality standards. It works all in pure Class A without any global feedback. As usual in Rudistor amps, to reach the highest purity in the sound, no capacitors are included along the signal path. The amp offers one of the lowest noise floor that we had measured, providing a completely blacker than black background. The linearity added to the dynamics, and hi-speed in peak transients, place the NX-33 inside a new sound dimension.

The NX33 do not use the traditional push-pull power units like the majority of the balanced amplifiers, instead four single ended amplifiers, two per channel, working in opposed phase are used.

The NX33 is a very flexible unit, it can drive any headphone, balanced or unbalanced, with either high or low impedance, or sensitivity.

Flexible Configuration

Balanced to Balanced: This is the typical configuration in which a balanced source is connected to the amp using the XLR balanced jacks. The signal is amplified in balanced mode, by the four amplification stages, driving the balanced headphone.

Unbalanced to Balanced: This is probably the most common case. To take advantage of the balanced configuration it is not absolutely necessary to use a balanced source, The NX33 have an internal splitter that converts the unbalanced signal in a perfectly hi-precision balanced signal. In other words the NX-33 could be connected to a regular unbalanced source and still use the balanced output to drive balanced headphones with no limitations.

Unbalanced to Unbalanced: The NX-33 can work in traditional unbalanced single ended topology as well, and since the amplifier design is based in four separate single ended Class A units, the use of this classic single ended topology is not a compromise in any way, as in many other amps, since it will use the same single ended Class A configuration as the balanced amplifier, just that they will not operate in opposed phase, (as in the balanced operation) but you will have the same amps working in the same single ended configuration and similar quality standards will be reached.
